Owning an Educare Centre and My Journey

For the past ten years, I’ve had the privilege of owning and operating an educare centre, dedicating myself to the well-being and development of children. My first business, Kim’s Kids Academy, was a labor of love—until the COVID-19 pandemic devastated it. The closure of schools and the challenges of the lockdowns left my dream in ruins. But through that loss, I learned to trust God in ways I never thought possible.

In the wake of that hardship, I opened a new school—Holmes is Where the Heart Is. This new chapter has been nothing short of blessed. I’ve watched it grow, nurturing children in a safe, loving environment where they can thrive. The journey of rebuilding has not been easy, but I believe with all my heart that this is the place where God has called me to serve.

My background in child psychology (although I didn’t complete my degree) has given me valuable insights into the minds and hearts of children. It’s been an incredible tool in helping me create a space where kids feel seen, heard, and loved. The experiences I’ve had in my life, particularly coming from an abusive childhood, have made me even more passionate about protecting children and ensuring they have a safe place to grow and learn.

I’ve experienced the depth of pain and the impact of a broken past, which is why I am driven to ensure that children who walk through our doors feel loved and secure. I know that what we create in their early years shapes their future, and I am committed to building a space that reflects God’s love and protection.

Building a future—especially after the setbacks I’ve faced—has been incredibly difficult. There are days I wonder how I will keep going, but I’ve learned that the strength I need comes from trusting in God’s plan. He has already shown me that no matter how hard the road may be, He will provide the grace and perseverance I need to continue. Every child we serve is a reminder of the difference we can make, and every day is an opportunity to build a better future for them and their families.

Holmes is Where the Heart Is is more than just a school—it’s a mission to create a safe, loving, and nurturing environment for every child who walks through our doors. And while the path to get here has been tough, I am filled with hope for the future.

Thank you for being part of this journey. It’s not just my dream—it’s a collective mission to protect, love, and empower the next generation.
