Stepping into 41: From Wilderness to Breakthrough
This year I turned 41, and it has been unlike any other. Something has shifted deep within me—a stirring I can only describe as miraculous. My thoughts are constantly drawn to God. When I sin or neglect time in His presence, conviction floods me, pulling me back to Him. When someone is saved, my heart leaps with joy. When I pray for others, I do so with unshakable faith that God will answer. And He is answering—one prayer after another.
But why does 41 feel so different?
To understand this, we must first look at the number 40 in the Bible. Over and over, the number 40 represents a season of testing, trial, and preparation:
40 days and nights of rain during the flood (Genesis 7:12).
40 years Israel wandered in the wilderness (Numbers 14:33).
40 days Moses spent on Mount Sinai in God’s presence (Exodus 24:18).
40 days Elijah walked to Mount Horeb, sustained only by God (1 Kings 19:8).
40 days Jesus fasted in the wilderness before His ministry began (Matthew 4:2).
40 days between Jesus’ resurrection and His ascension, where He appeared to His disciples and spoke of the Kingdom of God (Acts 1:3).
The number 40 always points to a period of struggle, testing, or waiting—but it never ends there. After 40 comes breakthrough. After 40 comes the promise.
Which means 41 represents stepping out of the wilderness and into a new chapter of faith, victory, and purpose.
And that’s exactly what I feel happening in my life.
At 41, I feel a deep peace in my heart. A compassion and empathy for others has grown inside of me, stronger than ever before. I look at people and I don’t just see their actions, I see their pain, their need for God, and my spirit overflows with love. I want to love the way Jesus loves. I want the world to know Him.
It’s as if God has been preparing me for this very moment my entire life. Every struggle, every scar, every unanswered question—it was leading me here. To this season where His Spirit is shaping me, softening me, convicting me, and filling me with joy I cannot explain.
I know now that I have been chosen—not just to walk with God, but to break generational curses over my bloodline. What ended with me will not continue with my children or their children. God’s plan and purpose for my life are unfolding before my eyes, and I feel so overwhelmed with love that I can hardly contain it.
My desires are changing. Things of the world are fading, and all I want is Him—every minute of the day. To worship Him, to speak about Him, to testify of His goodness, and to see His power move in the lives of others.
This is the miracle of 41. The testing season doesn’t last forever. God uses it to prepare us, but there comes a day when the wilderness is behind us, and we begin to taste the Promised Land.
So if you are walking through your “40” season—don’t lose hope. Press in. Pray harder. Stay faithful. Because on the other side is the shift, the breakthrough, the miraculous.
And when you step into 41, you will know: it was worth every tear, every prayer, every trial. Because God is faithful.
