Miraculous Heart Change: From Impatience to Intimacy with Jesus
If you had told me a year ago that I’d feel this close to Jesus, I might have smiled politely and nodded, but deep down, I wouldn’t have believed you. My life as a business owner and mother is often loud, messy, and chaotic—but something holy has been happening in the middle of it all.
God is changing me.
Not just in small ways either—He’s doing a deep work, reshaping my heart from the inside out. And I want to encourage every baby Christian reading this: He can and will do the same for you.
The Word Is Alive
Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword…” That’s exactly what I’ve been experiencing. The more I read His Word, the more I feel it cutting through the layers of old habits and attitudes—especially impatience and anger.
I used to shout often. It felt like the only way to be heard or to get things done. But now? I find that I don’t enjoy raising my voice anymore. It actually grieves me when I do. And that grief—it’s not guilt, it’s conviction. It’s the Holy Spirit whispering, “That’s not who you are anymore.”
Conviction Is a Gift
John 16:8 tells us that the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. For so long, I ignored His voice. But lately, the conviction has been immediate and strong. When I gossip, even unintentionally, my heart tightens. When I scroll endlessly on TikTok, I feel that inner nudge saying, “There’s more for you than this.”
It’s not about rules or religion—it’s about relationship.
The closer I draw to God, the more I crave His presence and the less satisfied I am with the things that used to entertain or distract me.
Guarding My Temple and Mind
1 Corinthians 6:19 reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. I’ve been convicted even about what I watch, what I eat, and how I speak to my children. I want to honor Him with all of me—not just my Sunday self, but my everyday self.
I used to think I needed to be perfect before coming to God. But now I see it’s in the coming that He perfects us.
A Heart Softened by Grace
I’m shocked sometimes by how softened my heart has become. People who used to irritate me now find a place in my prayers. Offense used to come easily, but now forgiveness flows more freely.
It’s not that I’ve arrived—but I’m on the journey. And Jesus is walking with me every step of the way.
Encouragement for the Baby Believer
If you’re just starting this walk with Jesus, let me encourage you with this:
- Stay in the Word. Meditate on it. Soak in it. Joshua 1:8 says “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night…”
- Pray, even when you don’t feel like it. Prayer isn’t about performance—it’s about presence. God wants to hear from you.
- Don’t fear conviction. It’s not shame—it’s the Father’s love drawing you closer.
- Surround yourself with believers. I find such joy being around my church family. They sharpen me and speak life into me.
And most of all—give yourself grace. God is patient with you. Philippians 1:6 promises, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” He’s not done with you yet.
Final Thoughts
I look at the woman I was, and I praise God I’m not her anymore. I’m still being refined, still growing, still learning—but I know who I belong to.
Jesus is my anchor. He is the One softening my heart, renewing my mind, and calling me deeper still.
If He can do it for me, He can do it for you too.
Keep going, friend. The best is yet to come.
